Junghans Max Bill watch review

The wrist watches “Max Bill” are known to have one of the most famous designs of the 20th century. Designer and architect Max Bill in Switzerland was conceived to have the clock based on the original version of 1960. You can easily buy such watches “in pure form”, a similar move made by the German watch brand Junghans. Junghans offered a more modern, but still retro-version of these watches. There are three versions of the Max Bill model.

The designer of the Junghans Max Bill watch was inspired by the beginning of modern architecture of the 1950s and 1960s. Many of these architectural projects may look a little out of date by today’s standards. The best forms and designs of products from this era (like these watches) are of great relevance. The model is very functional but still looks stylish. Undoubtedly, the time is easy to read, the design is attractive and the eyes are soothing.

Junghans Max Bill watch: Design

The brand Junghans was going to release three new models of classic watches Max Bill. Version with manual winding, automatic, and a version with a chronograph (the so-called Chronoscope). The watch case is made of stainless steel, and the watch itself is attached to the metal bracelet grid with a folding clasp. Arrows, as well as some large markers of the model, are covered with SuperLumiNova luminescent coating.

Junghans Max Bill watch: Dimension

The crystal is unique for these retro-fashion watches – it’s a very special type of Plexi glass. The idea is that it looks like an acrylic crystal in the past. It has the shape of a dome and undergoes special treatment to be very sturdy and more resistant to scratches. Also, glass has a significantly increased resistance to ultraviolet rays and chemicals.

Junghans Max Bill watch: Mechanism

The Junghans model of the Max Bill collection, which is given this watch review, is the new automatic model Junghans Max Bill Automatic (with the date). The clock is not huge, but large, more than the classic standards – 38 mm wide. The model has a very satisfying appearance with modern details. The version of Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope has a width of 40 mm. This 12-hour chronograph (probably using the Valjoux mechanism of the caliber 7750) – a really beautiful model.

The smallest model Junghans Max Bill Handaufzug is only 34 mm wide, comes with a manual winding, date function is removed.

Junghans Max Bill watch: Price

Wrist watches, made in Germany by the designer Max Bill, perfectly fit both men and women. To be honest, the Junghans Max Bill Handaufzug model is more suitable for women, since the width of the watch is ideal for a small wrist. The prices for unisex watches are not too huge: about $ 1,750 for the Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope, $920 for the automatic version with the Junghans date Max Bill Automatic, but the Junghans Max Bill Handaufzug with hand winding can be bought for only $670.
